Any ideas on when OTIP (San Francisco) pre-selects will be released?

I think SF is up for those who are wondering.

Looks like picking up pre-selects through OTIP was substantially easier than BADCF.

How are we supposed to interpret these pre-selects? Honestly not a humblebrag, just confused: I got pre-selects from firms that conventional wisdom dictates I have absolutely no shot at (GPA-wise and softs-wise).

Is it too pessimistic to assume this is a product of low student turnout and not a legit chance? Debating whether it's worth a second plane ticket to the Bay Area (after BADCF next week), or if it's just a mirage.

Honestly -- I can't say. OTIP is only open to a select number of students so I suspect that the pool of applicants was much, much smaller compared to BADCF. With that being said, I wouldn't read into this too much. At this stage of the fall recruitment process I think we should go in with the mentality that we must do anything we can to secure an offer regardless of the cost.

Worth going if I only got 2 pre-selects? One is with a firm that NALP presents as historically only hiring a tiny number of SAs, while the other has a more substantial class and does work that I'd be interested in, but is out of my GPA range as far as I can tell. Only cost would be the flight, so I guess my question is: does one solid interview justify a $250-400 investment? I think I'd probably be able to pick up the firm at OCI as well, though obviously that'd take up a bid.

(looks like a few firms are also still pending)

We're all lower T14 guys, it's OTI.

I got 2 alternates (in addition to some preselects), wonder if anything will come of them.

Were we supposed to submit cover letters? Whoops...maybe that's why this didn't quite work out.

Miami pre-select went as expected, got 4/5. Wasn't expecting to get Weil anyways.

Congrats to all who got pre selects. Now the time to decide whether it's worth it to go on the road for one lonely pre select.

If its a firm you really want I would go for sure. If its one that you just bid because it was on the list and you are not too thrilled about it, don't go. But a 400$ investment that has a shot at turning into a market paying job is worth it imo.

Anyone else having issues w the CHI OTIP site?? I had two preselects and after refreshing / logging back in the entire invitations column disappeared.

Edit: looks like for CHI we are getting emails from our school if we were preselected.

Top 1/3 weak Chi ties - 2 preselects no alts

Other than Weil paying 160, what is the lure? Their office is under 20 people.

Duke, a tiny bit above median. The 160 is real nice with no state or city tax and reasonably moderate COL
