They offered it to me for free. Hard to pass up a free 300 dollar law prep course. Probably worth the time (dont know about the money).pumpkincrepes wrote:That's crazy. You should have special permission for a green pass. . . and you are supposed to be able to sign up until the 31st. Are you sure you clicked green and not chemistry lot or something? And did you click the sign-up button rather than the waitlist button?
I've heard a little bit about these prep classes and did do Kaplan for the LSAT. Do you think they are worth the time and money?

Glad everything worked outpgrigg wrote:You guys are awesome. I emailed the parking manager and he said there must be an issue with my online account. He manually registered me for green zone (and MC permit as well) so Im good to go.
Thanks guys, I probably would have assumed I was out of luck if I hadn't received the feedback I did.
Note: if you call them you probably won't have a lot of luck. The lady who answers acts like youre a moron and that you're egregiously wasting her divine time.

If it's free, might as well try it. I would be forewarned though, I have heard from other people who have taken it that a lot of the advice is bad and may actually hurt you if you follow it. You will have to let us know what you think of it once you finish.pgrigg wrote:They offered it to me for free. Hard to pass up a free 300 dollar law prep course. I just wanted to make sure I haven't missed a memo or something. Have any of you found out what section you are in yet?

Nothing yet. They claimed that we would find out in early August. So this might be the week.BarrelState wrote:I just wanted to make sure I haven't missed a memo or something. Have any of you found out what section you are in yet?

I am hoping we will hear back on our section numbers this week, that at least gives some possibility for using amazon with expedited shipping.
Also, has anyone else moved in yet?

I'm moving in this weekend and then taking next week to get oriented and set up all my new things (car title, new bank account, etc.)

I just realized that I never sent in my Duke Card form + passport-sized photo...it was due August 1st. Think I should just send it in late, or --?

i didn't either; i was too lazy/busy to get it done.irishlaw wrote:I just realized that I never sent in my Duke Card form + passport-sized photo...it was due August 1st. Think I should just send it in late, or --?
i'm local so i'll do it next week, but the Lead Week stuff online says time is provided to go get the Duke card. The Aug 1 deadline was only if you wanted it sitting there in your orientation folder. you're fine.

Haha, my passport/DukeCard picture is ridiculous as well. I think that's just how it goes. It's an errand on your to-do list and unless you're incredible on top of life you're not going to get dressed up to go to Walgreens. And prez, if you do run for political office I'm sure you can send in a picture so the news doesn't use your law school directory photo in their campaign blips .
On a different note, is anyone interested in meeting up somewhere for dinner or drinks sometime, maybe the weekend before orientation?

If you're not signed up for direct deposit, do they just mail you a check? How do you sign up for the direct deposit for loan excess??
Thanks!
Thanks!

Also, has anyone gotten any info from the Duke Bar Association about mentors? The email they sent on July 10th said that an email should be forthcoming about that, but I haven't heard anything. I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Pogo, to get signed up with direct deposit, print this form, fill it out, and mail it to Duke:

As for mentors, I haven't heard anything either, so I'm assuming it will be any day now. Anyone figured out what section they're in? Those (presumably) cheaper Amazon prices are calling my name...

Re: Duke Law Class of 2012
Does anyone know what is in the downtown West Village center? I already have an apartment but I looked online and it seems like a rather cool place. There is apparently a plethora of retail space as well. Just a random question, getting exciting about exploring the area
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
