Yeah, I got a phone call in early December. I don't remember when exactly. Applied in October.

Christ. With a 175? Was it YP you think? Did you write "Why UMN?" in your PS?enygma wrote:well sheeeeit. got the rejection letter today. not even effing waitlisted. i must say, i'm quite surprised.

didn't do a "why" portion, maybe that's part of it. figured that living in MN for seven years would have helped, guess not. no idea if it was YP or not... I mean i at least got WLed at UVA, so I would imagine that i didn't accidentally talk about raping puppies in my PS or something.badlydrawn wrote:Christ. With a 175? Was it YP you think? Hrmph. From my own informal surveys, it appears that many folks with surprising rejections/waitlists from UMN hadn't written a "Why UMN" portion in their personal statement, whereas those with similar numbers or worse who had written "Why UMN" received acceptances. I'm sure there's nothing categorically wrong with your PS. UMN has just been really particular about it this year. With your numbers I'm positive you'll get into an awesome school.

well, word on the street is that there's a guy on the admissions committee who actively hates kids from my undergrad, maybe that had something to do with it. maybe not.

count me in as well! Who all is going to the March 6th-7th ASW? Does anyone know the schedule like when it starts on Friday and when it ends on Saturday? I am trying to make the necessary travel arrangements and it would be nice to know this information. Thanks guys! Hope to see some of you there!

So I am REALLY impressed with UMN. Both the law school and the chem grad office has been extremely helpful. They have worked with me to create an ad hoc joint degree program, helped me along the way with the status of my application, had students and faculty contact me, and answered all my questions in a timely manner. They make you feel like they really want you to come to their school. Kudos for them. They are winning me over!
Ah!!!! I can't wait to visit in March!!!
Has anyone made up their mind to attend there next fall? I am just holding on to my seat deposit money until I can try to get some scholly money out of them.

I might be? 3 other schools I am considering have their ASW the same weekend though. I haven't received any information regarding it, other than the general date. Has anyone else?ehshornet wrote:count me in as well! Who all is going to the March 6th-7th ASW? Does anyone know the schedule like when it starts on Friday and when it ends on Saturday? So is it just me or does the email about the Admitted Students Website not include...a link to the Admitted Students Website?
