does anyone have a suggestion where to buy a cheap, new sofa? any furniture stores you've been to in the area (not ikea)?

I got a futon for $150 from Walmart. I'm not too pleased with it so far.

I got a couch at Grand Home Furnishings for relatively cheap but still nice (under $500). They only stock one color though so I'm still waiting for it to be delivered (4 weeks later). They give huge discounts on floor smples if they have a scratch or tear or anything so it might be worth checking out. It does have a used car salesman feel though. They def work on commission.

Heard last year someone went at like 11pm the night before and they were up... I will not be doing this, however if anyone is really anxious and does, make sure to bring a camera and post pictures of it on the forum...

Last year it was on the bulletin board near the Student Records Office in Slaughter Hall (the bookstore side of the school), not sure if it'll be the same this year.

So I just went to Wal-Mart to get furniture. I got a desk, bookshelf, and file cabinet set for $69, a four-drawer dresser for $59, and a fairly nice chair for $84. Woohoo!

did you leave one of each for me? if so i might be heading over there tonight.

Target has some good stuff for cheap, too, and most of it is cute and pretty colors.

Also, sorry I didn't make it tonight, I fractured my foot this afternoon so I wasn't exactly up for it.

There were six of the three-in-one sets for $69 left when I got mine, although I did grab the last dresser. Although, perhaps they have some more in storage. They also had a few other dressers - one that I remember was three drawers and was $49.

Target has some good stuff for cheap, too, and most of it is cute and pretty colors.

I didn't even consider target. If you are concerned about colors target is probably better, since Walmart's stuff was either white, black, or brown (as if they tried to make it look like wood but it's still obviously mostly glue). Although Walmart did have a nice selection of towels - I was able to get purple and gold towels in honor of my alma mater.

I've had both wal mar and target towels and in the same price range the quality is comparable. Target has some slightly more expensive lines that are very plush though. just be careful with the super cheap bath mats that are sold as sets at wal mart, they seem to leave fuzz everywhere.

Call me a cynic, but this just sounds like a 2L or 3L playing a trick on a bunch of gullible 1Ls to make them show up at the law school at 11PM.

Nah, if it was a prank it would be 1 or 2 AM. Unless it's one of those really good pranks that is actually possible to fall for...
