laptop is not necessary. A small pad might be nice if you're that kind of person, but you'll still probably be fine without it. Orientation isn't that "zOMG" dense.

Gus: If the weather isn't too warm, Just wear jeans and a decent shirt. To the world you look casual, in your head shot you'll look business casual.

Would it be bad to wear dark jeans, a dressy shirt, and nice shoes for the Monday events? I forgot to get my slacks dry-cleaned.

Portal is just a big brainstorming exercise (which goes on about 3 days too long). No need to bring anything but maybe a pen.

As far as clothes, just wear a nice shirt, maybe a jacket if you want to look especially spiffy on the school facebook. Last year there were some people in polos and some people in suits and everything in between.

I have another... the orientation schedule says that check-in goes from 9am-1pm, and it seems that the first mandatory activity (outside of the pictures taken during the nebulous 9am-1pm time frame) is from 1pm-3pm. Realistically, is it important to be there closer to 9am or is 10am okay? 10:30? 11? Where do you draw the line? I don't want to be there too early with nothing to do, but I also don't want to be considered late...

Nonunique and I got the protip as 1Ls that if you went to Student Affairs before orientation, you could just ask to get your locker then. At the time, they didn't require locker buddies, as they did at orientation. So he and I (and a number of other 2010ers) got singles.

Me and my locker buddy paired up 'blind date' style, and I'm really not that concerned about it. Also really can't imagine filling the locker up and needing the extra space. Am I missing something?
