Employment on Applications

Postby Laewgbi » Sat Oct 07, 2017 8:40 pm

I have been working at the same position throughout undergrad, but I've only been paid during summers. Some applications ask for "employment." Should I just group this work together or distinguish between when I was/wasn't paid (which would make my resume a bit unwieldy). Or does it not matter?

I definitely wouldn't bother parsing it out for your resume, especially because you shouldn't be putting anything about pay on there in the first place. When it comes to employment history, it might be easier to include a note about this, but I forget exactly what the forms for that section include.

How about separating paid/unpaid work experience under different sections? I had one unpaid internship that is relevant to my background. Should I group this under "employment" or create a new section? Or rename the entire "employment" section to "experience" ( I feel this diminishes the other positions though)?
