Character and Fitness Question ASAP!

Post by Destiny0921 » Mon Mar 13, 2017 8:23 pm

Hi! On one of my applications it asks if you have been on academic probation and once u select yes it requires you submitting a document explaining that. But I have a GPA addendum also so does this need to be two separate documents?

I would def. submit both a GPA addendum and a separate CF document to explain details of your academic probation further. Emphasizing why you got bad grades, how you improved, and what you learned from the experience is something that can be addressed in both, just rewritten not to be repetitive, etc. CF is REALLY no joke. I would play it safe and thoroughly explain what happened in the CF addemdum.

I would take a different route, and cut the GPA addendum. If your GPA was bad for several years, it's unclear how much the addendum will help you. If your post-college accomplishments are much more impressive than your GPA, the reader will infer character growth. If it's bad because of 1 or 2 semesters, the academic probation addendum will address this. The question about academic probation is it's frequently a slap on the wrist punishment. Depending on the other questions, it may also be indicating you don't need to disclose housing/non-academic infractions (but definitely read carefully).
