Letter of Rec from alumni for wait list?

Post by Harry_Pluxen » Sun Mar 22, 2015 4:14 pm

Hey all,

I've been wait listed at Boston College this cycle. An uncle of mine who is an alumni at BC law ('82) has offered to write me a letter of recommendation to the school. Is this an appropriate thing to do at this stage? Will this be looked upon favourably or could it work against me?

I've already written a LOCI to BC law, plan to do a campus visit when I get my response from BU (in case I need to do both) AND I will rewrite the June LSAT in order to increase my score to gain admission from the waitlist.

Thoughts?

No family members for LOR writers. I'll qualify that with an exception if your uncle is filthy rich and donates mountains of cash to the school, but even in that case he should be picking up the phone, not writing a LOR.
