ED waitlist

Post by sst123 » Mon Oct 28, 2013 2:05 am

If you apply to a school binding ED and get in off the waitlist are you still obligated to go there? Does it vary by school? I'm sure the answers on here somewhere, but I couldn't find it. Thanks for the help!

As far as I am aware, when you don't get the ED admission, you are rolled into the RD pool and are just treated like a RD applicant from then on. So, no, it's not binding.

Rink's right, and going straight from ED to the wait list doesn't happen anyway, because it would render the "early" part of "early decision" moot.

The three things that can happen with an ED application is that you can be accepted, denied outright, or moved into the RD pool, at which point you're no longer bound to attend if accepted, and they're no longer bound to give you a decision any earlier than anyone else who applied RD.
