Thank you for this. Bad news for law schools, good news for this cycle's applicants.

I wonder how accurate the 2013 enrollment projection figure will turn out to be. It looks like they are predicting a higher yield rate than last year.

Bump, for new update.

As of 02/22/13, there are 288,718 Fall 2013 applications submitted by 41,010 applicants. Applicants are down 18.4% and applications are down 21.8% from 2012. Last year at this time, we had 74% of the preliminary final applicant count.

http://www.lsac.org/lsacresources/data/ ... volume.asp

Looks like the rate of new applications jumped slightly (last week, apps were down 18.9% and applicants down 22.0%) but it's fairly stable.

With the late surge of applications, I'm guessing that increases the early application advantage a bit?

I would disagree. Early applications would already be decided on, and outside that, even if most of those people have bad numbers I can't see how more applications would positively impact decisions. Just my guess

Theory: Students with worse numbers are making up a higher proportion of the applicant pool. Why the late uptick? TTT applicants tend to apply later than applicants to the top schools, so the decline YOY has become less pronounced as we hit the later stages of the cycle.

This has actually been shown to be false from LSAC data. Its typically been even across the board with a slightly higher drops in the higher lsat ranges.

Probably a cover up.

Hold on, higher drops in the higher lsat ranges would give you a higher proportion of lower numbers.

I hope apps drop another 20% next year. I am going to negotiate hard with schools. Fuck them. They don't care about us.
