I'm under the impression that your PS should reflect your specific desires more than your LoRs.

Your LOR serves as a professional credibility to your academic ability as well as a character report. As such, even though it's 4 years old, it should theoretically reflect how you can perform in a challenging environment, and attest to a general good character statement.

Maybe I'm wrong? TLS will surely tell!

I'm submitting LORs considerably older than your 2008 LOR. Last I recall, they will accept it since it reflects your academic capabilities when you were a student. You should be fine.
