The reason I didn't include COL above is because I would continue living where I am now, so there would be no additional cost in going as opposed to not going to law school at all. FWIW my COL is probably between $12-15k /yr, so add that to the tuition figures above for total COA.

So you're looking at 60Kish total COA in your target market? As long as the school is at/near the top of the pecking order (I'm assuming it's Temple) I'd say you're good to go and congratulations.

Harvey Specter would not settle for Drexel. He would sit out a year, make more $$$, model/bottle the hell out of whatever city he was working in, and 175+ the test.

No seriously, it couldn't be THAT bad working another year in your corporate job, could it? The money you'd be giving up at Drexel you could probably recover to some extent by working/saving another year. And presumably with time off to restudy for the LSAT, you would be able to get a 170+, at which point you could probably bank on at least a couple of DNCG MVP, which would >>> your career prospects at Drexel. At least that's the way I look at it.

I'd say if you've already decided to retake and reapply don't let this last min scholly dissuade you. If you really do better on the LSAT, as you suspect you will, you'll be offered the same or better schollies from these/better schools next year. The current trends seem to suggest that applications are going to keep going down not up so schools will be just as desperate for your high LSAT next year.

The t14 don't just have better odds for big law. They also typically have better loan repayment, PI centers, government connections, etc. The debt is scary but manageable esp if you're going to work for the public sector and qualify for repayment.

Ultimately, if you're making an enrollment decision with an LSAT that you know isn't your best you're probably making the wrong decision. Retake, do better, have more/better options next year.

Were you planning on retaking in June or October? If June, you could commit and then just withdraw if you hit your target LSAT score. The offer you have sounds pretty good given your goals, so I imagine it would be difficult to decline it without a 170+ score in your pocket.

Still looking for advice on this.

Some things that come to mind:

1) Many firms/recruiters are skeptical of part-time/evening students (so I've read on TLS).
2) You should seriously consider whether or not you can manage law school as well as a full time job. If you're not going to be able to bust your ass for grades as well as compose a good write-on for law review, then there's no reason to half ass it.
3) Make sure you don't want to leave the area, because you lose national reach (which you would have if you went to UVA).
4) Make sure you consider that you're going to have this degree for the rest of your life. Is saving one year worth it when you would have a good shot at dream schools/jobs?
