Other schools applying to?

Post by battletoad » Sun Sep 25, 2011 1:37 pm

I have noticed that, on most of the law school applications I have been filling out, the "what other law schools are you applying to?" question invariably comes up.

Of course, I have answered honestly, and given my full list of target schools each time. But, I am wondering: why do they ask this? Does this affect your admissions process?

I imagine an admissions committee looking at a long list of schools and saying "OK, battletoad is blanketing a bunch of schools, so we really don't mean that much to him." Or, "Well, battletoad is applying to so many schools, he will surely get in to one, so we shouldn't feel bad rejecting him."

Anybody have any knowledge on this?
