"Undergraduate Employment"

Post by Avrenim » Sun Sep 11, 2011 12:31 am

At least one application asks the following question:

1. If you were employed during the academic year while in undergraduate school, list the positions you held beginning with freshman year: (maximum characters 100)

Does this mean only paid work? Would unpaid internships belong here?

I mean, I babysat and sat at a security desk in some local building, but these gigs were just a few hours a week for a little extra cash......is this included in what they're looking for?

Yes, I put internships here if they were career focused and happened during the school year. For schools that also had some section about community activities, I would take out my internships for charitable organizations and put them there, but you can interpret work experience pretty widely for these sections. And internships are work experience whether paid or unpaid, few hours or many hours.
