LSAT exam in Feb 2012

Post by minakshiyerra » Wed Sep 07, 2011 6:09 pm

I intend to take LSAT in Feb 2012. Can you please let me know your thoughts on it.

Do you think its too late for admissions in law schools then? or is it still ok to take it in Feb 2012? Should I take it in Dec 2011?(Im not well prepared for Dec 2011)

Depends on what schools you're applying to and how desperate you are to apply this year. I would suggest waiting a year and taking the LSAT whenever you feel you will be best prepared. I took the February 2010 LSAT with the intention of applying that year and found that most of the schools I wanted to apply to had deadlines that were before I received my scores back. This lead to a waste of my money and time because not only did I not get the score I wanted, I also had a poor chance even if I had scored as well as I expected to. Rolling admissions mean that most if not all of the admissions have been sent by the time your application will even be read. If you do get in to schools you are considering, they will most likely be schools that are below your "potential".

This changes a bit if you're looking at T2 and T3 schools with later application deadlines.

Hard to know three months out if you aren't prepared for December 2011. I'd say focus on the December test and then if things don't work out re-take in June of next year and re-apply.

I really wouldn't recommend the Feb. LSAT. As has been said previously, it really reduces the chances you have to get into anywhere decent. Plus, any applications after December have almost no chance at scholarship money at all. Three months should be enough time to get you in shape for the LSAT if you really put your mind to it. Hell, there's even people who only study for a month and can get into some T20s.

As others have said, you still have plenty of time to prep for December. Our classes for the December LSAT haven't even started yet.

I would definitely not recommend applying with a February LSAT for that same academic year. You're way behind the curve. If it's something you absolutely have to do, then do it; otherwise, don't.
