Sending Scholarship Deadline Notifications
So I was lucky enough to receive a scholarship to a school, but it requires that I accept or decline by 04/15.
I have two questions:
1) What do you guys think about trying to use the scholarship as "leverage" by name-dropping it in the email? Something like: "I received the [XXX] Scholarship at the [YYY] School. This scholarship requires me to accept or decline by 04/15." Or Should I just simply say: "I received a scholarship that requires me to accept or decline by 04/15."
2) When should I send out these emails? I was originally going to wait for a couple of weeks, but I was thinking about it, and if I do get in, I'd want to visit before I made my decision, so i'd have to hear back pretty soon in order to make arrangements to visit before 04/15. So should I email them now, or wait until closer to the deadline?

Exact same situation here. The scholarship acceptance deadline for my number 2 school is 4/15 and I'm probably gonna get waitlisted at my number 1. I really want to stay on the waitlist, so I'm just gonna email the #2 and ask to push back the deadline or email the #1 and ask if they can expedite the decision.

Let me know how that goes. I hadn't thought about asking school #2 about pushing back the deadline.EricBerry wrote:Exact same situation here. I'm just gonna tell them that there's a very good chance I'll attend, but I want to hear back from one more school's waitlist. I have a third school that will allow me to remain on my top choice's waitlist and it would be stupid to lose out on a candidate (who you deem worthy of a scholarship) because they want to know all of their options before committing.

Yeah, I'll let you know, but I haven't even been waitlisted yet. I'll probably know later this week.
