Applying this cycle, but retaking June LSAT for Next Cycle?

Post by starbucksjunkie » Fri Jan 07, 2011 2:21 pm

My December LSAT was my second try. Although it was a 7 point boost, it is still disappointing. I totally choked one a section though I am normally good at taking tests. This cycle, I applied to my "B" school - a TTT because its local and cheap. Even if I am accepted, I am thinking of retaking a third and final time in June.

1. I don't think there is an issue taking it again after gaining acceptance to law school and putting down a seat deposit, but has anyone else done this or see any issue?

2. If I get a good score in Jun/Aug will it look bad to apply to the 2012 cycle and defer enrollment/not enroll? I don't want to write off school "B" for the 2012 cycle in case schools "A" don't offer me scholarship money, etc.?

I am ok going to the TTT because of personal constraints, my husband has a well-paying secure job, we own a home and it would be a pain to sell but would prefer to go to the T1 in my city because of job prospects.

Has anyone else done this sort of thing? I don't want to look like a jerk to school "B".

IMO it sounds like you're not sure you want to commit to "School B." There's nothing wrong with that, but if you'd really prefer to be at "School A" you're not being fair to yourself, the school or the applicant that's dying to go to "School B." If you really would be equally as happy at either school, might I suggest to (a) apply to both this cycle and see what happens (although, it is a little late to apply now), or (b) retake the LSAT in June and apply to both schools next cycle. (Or you could do both.) Compare what they're offering side-by-side.

FWIW (and, granted, I don't know the whole situation) I would take the LSAT in June and just try next cycle.
