merit based sholarship essays

Post by northwood » Wed Nov 03, 2010 8:14 pm

I am debating writing a merit based scholarship essay for one of my targets. I would like to go to the school, and am above the 75% for gpa, and right at the 75% for lsat. Im assuming that if I dont write the scholarship essays, there is no way I can get one, but im owrried that if I end up writing a bad essay, it will hurt my chances at admission. How much of an impact, if any do these scholarship essays have on overall admission or rejection?

I'd have to imagine that these essays marginally help because admissions people may infer that you're more serious about their school, based on the extra work you're putting in.

I really doubt that a poorly-written essay would ruin your chances at getting in a school when your numbers are that good, but you can probably make this whole issue much simpler by just writing a good essay.
