Is BU worth sticker?

Post by BoomBoom1986 » Fri Sep 24, 2010 2:13 pm

Especially if you have your living expenses covered?

If your living expenses are covered, yes. If you are talking full tuition + living expenses then it's a toss up. BU is willing to negotiate scholarship though, if you don't get one straight up, play for it.

Yes, for about 20% of the class.

BU gives tons of financial aid. I wouldn't assume sticker until you get your final scholarship letter. Also, sometimes scholarship comes late.

These are both overly pessimistic. This is from 2009. Employment is slightly better now than 2009.

This post could not be more misleading. Class of 2009 summered in 2008, before the economic collapse. Of course many offers were rescinded and that did pull down the numbers of '09ers headed to biglaw (more on this below), but it wasn't until class of 2010 that you are going to see the numbers really take a nosedive to the 10%-20% levels.

The other point on the class of 2009 is that the schools continued to report students as "biglaw bound" once offers were rescinded and individuals were place on indefinite delayed start. So these 2009 numbers are necessarily inflated. The key point however is that they took an enormous dive since this publication was created.

BU is worth it if the school promises to pay your entire 3 years there. Don't go for the 1 year scholarship on condition of placing somewhere high in the class.

While true that this isn't as bad as it got, hiring now is pretty much equivalent to that list.

Yes. Note that most on here will say no, however.

People on TLS will say no school is worth t14 unless it's a t14.

Some will even say no school is worth sticker unless it's HYS.
