Question about Deferring and Scholarships

Post by RTFM » Sat Sep 18, 2010 12:22 am

If you defer admission, are you still eligible for scholarships? I imagine that this might be different for different schools, but if anyone has any info to share on the topic I'd appreciate it.

Some schools, I recall Northwestern at least in particular, offer scholarships if you are willing to defer. If they are getting too many deposits back, you might have some leverage to offer to wait a year.

Though if you just straight up defer, it is probably somewhat like EDing for the next year with an auto admit...meaning no aid. They might let you keep the aid they award you for this year, you would have to negotiate with the schools though.
