I live in the DC area, so I'm getting spammed like crazy for an upcoming law school fair at George Washington University. Texas Wesleyan is one of these schools and also sent me an email that said they "wanted to remind you that we will be at the the George Washington University, Monday September 20, 2010."
Unfortunately, the subject line was: "Texas Wesleyan School of Law at the Miami Forum." Oops!
Well, Texas Wesleyan isn't a school that gets down on itself when it makes a mistake-so they immediately followed up with THE SAME EMAIL, but with a different subject line:
"Texas Wesleyan School of Law at the Georgtown (sic) Law Forum (Not Miami!)"
As someone who went to GW undergrad, I didn't appreciate the conflating of Georgetown and GW to begin with, but at least spell your mistakes right! There's not enough facepalm on the internets to express the fail.
(Applications Advice, Letters of Recommendation . . . )
