Question about job history

Post by eastofeden » Wed Sep 08, 2010 5:45 pm

I graduated from college in 2008 and have had extensive managerial experience while in school and since leaving school, I've been in solely managerial positions for the last three years, but my last job was as a server. I left my previous job because it was not right for me, but after having difficulty finding employment took a job as a server in a winebar as a necessity.

I was recently married and my husband and I have moved. I have been unemployed since May, my longest unemployment since 2005. We live in a fairly small town and there just aren't many opportunities.

My concern is that my resume is impressive until recently. I'm concerned about my current unemployment looking like a lack of career progress but I don't want to write an addendum unless it's really necessary to explain the lapse. Any thoughts?

ITE I don't think you need to write one. I'll be unemployed when I apply too (probably--though I hope not).

If anything you can do some volunteering to show that you have been active somehow/maybe take up some leadership in the volunteer position. Especially since you are a few years out of UG and most of us are more involved during school.
