Emailed UT. Response: UT Law does not offer merit-based fee waivers for which you can apply. Our application fee waivers may be granted to applicants who can establish documented economic need.

So either wait for it via CRS/hidden or go cry and shell out $70

Got the package from Michigan with handwritten note (saying they loved graduates of my alma mater* -- what a coincidence, I do, too!) :D

*I'm actually very pleased about this, as one of the things that attracts me so much to Michigan is that it seems to have a very similar personality to that of my undergrad (which I ADORED, and if they had a law school, I'd go there, but they don't sadface).

I think it's hilarious that today I checked UT for a hidden waiver... and I just got the email.

I might sound foolish, but what is the difference between early action and "non-binding" early decision? :?

I don't know, I thought it's one of the same. Since it's non-binding, I am doing it.

I got a handwritten note that said they have a good tax program. (I listed that as one of my interests). It definitely stood out to more because they took the time to do that.

Did not get the UT waiver (neither emailed nor hidden). :/ Which is a bummer, because I'm on the fence about whether to apply there.

I have this complex where I completely do not want to apply to a school if I don't have a waiver. I feel spoiled. Hear that, Penn? You should probably give me one soon plz! :D

FWIW, I'm at 170 and did not get a waiver.
I'm a 170, 3.6 identical numbers twin to you and I did not get a waiver either. What's up UT?

I'm 170/3.95 and got the waiver from UT, so I guess GPA does play into this.

"As an African American faculty member, it is very important to me that more persons of color enter the legal profession. For this reason, I am pleased that you are considering law school. Northeastern University School of Law maintains a strong commitment to preparing lawyers of color to enter the legal field. See the difference going to Northeastern can make."

Getting a fee waiver must mean you at least have a chance, right?

No, it's called yield percentage. The more people that apply, the more people they reject, the better they do in the USNWR.

Oops. Sorry about that screw up. What I was going to say was that these posts are really synical. So according to your logic it, why wouldn't they send fee waivers to every single person who took the LSAT regardless of score so that they could reject us all and then have a huge rejection rate. So it seems that you are indicating that not only does it mean nothing to get a waiver, but they actually are trying to trick you into applying which makes it actually a bad thing to get one. So I guess if you get accepted and they give you a scholarship you are really screwed.

I think it means you at least will be considered.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
