Is UG prestige a factor in the admission process?

Post by vale1rd » Tue Feb 02, 2010 12:07 pm

I'm curious as to if UG prestige will count against me as I apply next fall. I expect to graduate with about a 3.8, but my UG institution isn't exactly know for their academic prowess. I decided to go to the third most recognized state school in my own state because of the scholarship money I was offered, but I am now afraid that this will end up hurting me when law schools review my file. So I guess my question is, will it matter?

It will not hurt you, though HYPS UG helps those that attended.

There is a lot of thought on this in past threads, so use the search feature if you want more information.

For most schools, it does not matter to them.
For some school schools, they say it matters a bit to them (but it really doesn't).
And for a very few schools, it actually does matter a bit to them (but still not a lot).

That is just my opinion.
