How Accurate is Law School Predictor? Forum

Hey YC, have you seen anything in the data indicating that big score differences are being averaged??(by big, I mean 10+ point diffs between two takes.)

Congrats on the improvement!
I have a 10+ difference, and although I don't think the scores are necessarily averaged, I do think the lower score has hurt me a little.

LSP was actually pessimistic for me; I was WL'ed at the only "Weak Consider" to which I applied, and In at all the "Considers" (some with $$).

Law School Predictor is a crock. It said I had a less than 5% chance of being admitted to a T1 (WCL). Of course, I was admitted.

Of course I was half-joking. But my personal example does go to show that, at least in my case, LSP is inaccurate. thereby, my ultimate point was that it is hardly an infallible predictor.

Less than five percent /= no chance in hell.

It is a great tool for helping manage expectations, but it shouldn't be the sole basis on which anyone makes their decisions about where to apply
