Quick question on PS limits

Post by rjh456 » Sat Jan 08, 2011 5:32 pm

If a school's instructions say a personal statement must be no more than two pages double spaced, but they don't provide a font minimum, can i assume that it's ok to submit an essay that's 2 pages double spaced at 11pt? the only time i've ever seen limits on font size it specifies that it must be at least 11pt...

I think 11 is reasonable. That's what many apps specifically request. IIRC, Harvard wanted 2 pages, double spaced, 11 point font, 1-inch margins. I just used that for everything.

11pt is definitely acceptable, except for cases where they state otherwise. Also, if you do use 11pt for your PS, make sure to use it for all of your attachments (resume, addenda, PS) otherwise it looks comparatively small and a bit sloppy IMO.
