Does updating your FAFSA hurt you?

Post by jesss » Tue Mar 01, 2011 2:01 pm

I submitted my FAFSA (the first time) in January but since then have updated it to reflect more accurate income amounts/tax withholdings, etc. Will this hurt me and push my FAFSA to the so-called bottom of the pile?

Also, I just submitted my taxes online so is it okay to go back and fill out the "have submitted taxes" section (and link to the online IRS one) in a couple of weeks after it is processed?

Thanks!

no it doesn't hurt you.

Technically most schools just need to see the 2010 info by May 1 or something (that's the deadline I've seen) when many scholarship offers have already gone out...

Not sure if waiting to submit 2010 info can disadvantage someone for need aid though..
