Grants for Law School?

Postby conroyc » Tue Jan 04, 2011 3:48 pm

Hi all,

I apologize if this is a silly question, but I am new to financial aid (didn't qualify in undergrad), and I can't seem to find a definitive answer to my question. Does the federal government and/or schools give out need-based grants for law school students? Or do you just qualify for need-based loans? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

At Michigan, you fill out a questionnaire for some grants. I think it uses your high school address and whether you received a Pell grant in undergrad pretty heavily in the determinations though.

IDK how much you could get.

Most law schools are, largely, scams, so they rarely give out need-based grant money.

Some schools give out some grants (I got one). It all depends on your financial situation which includes your parents if you're under 25, if I remember correctly. Grants are out there but mainly for the top schools and only for those with very, very limited funds.

I hear Florida Coastal gives out a pretty nice grant.
