I got this e-mail but I am Cuban, which is non-URM as far I as know. Can I still apply for it? I qualify otherwise.

MCCA wrote:About the Minority Corporate Counsel Association
The Minority Corporate Counsel Association(MCCA) was founded in 1997 to
advance the hiring, promotion and retention of diverse attorneys in law
departments and the law firms that serve them. MCCA furthers its mission by
publishing research on achieving diversity and best practices in the legal
profession, honoring innovative diversity programs with its Employer of
Choice and Thomas L. Sager awards, and assisting diverse law students through
the Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. Scholarship Program. The scholarship program was
launched in 2005 and is named after the founder of MCCA.
I don't see anything about the scholarship being URM-only in that e-mail.

I don't think there requirement for URM status is as narrow as most law schools?

The deadline says May 31st at midnight. Does that mean tonight at 12am, or at the end of May 31st (ie, tomorrow at midnight)? Usually scholarships specify a date and 11:59:59 to remove ambiguity.

I know this sounds dumb, but on the scholarship page it says that it closes May 31. One my recommenders still hasn't submitted yet and I'm a little nervous.

I am Cuban and I also got an email about applying for this. I couldn't get the required number of LORs in time so I just decided not to apply.

Got it. The award email was sent about an hour ago. Was really excited for a moment, but it's looking like I'll have to decline.... %#!+*

Hopefully someone on TLS will get the cash. Good luck!

Why do you have to decline? Are there strict acceptance stipulations?

Applied late, waitlisted at a few T-14s, will more than likely re-apply and re-take the LSAT.

Can't defer this and get sick to my stomach every time I think about turning this down. Doesn't anyone know how competitive this is or if I'll have a shot next year?... :(

Reapply next year first round or take the December LSAT and apply the day the scores are released. Also apply to Top 35 schools so you can get some scholarship money. If you are getting waitlisted at Top 14 then you should be getting money at Top 25-35.

That's the game plan. I did receive scholarship $$$ from two T-25 schools. The goal is $$$ from at least one of the T-14.

I really just hate to turn away cash....
