NU is out if OP has no (or no quality) WE.biggamejames wrote:I think Penn, GULC, NU.

GULC, Northwestern, WUSTL, and George Washington come to mind.

i snagged GULC and NU with similar numbers. that was last cycle though so im not sure if things changed.
i did not have a good excuse for low gpa and attended a community college. if u have a good excuse (tough major, elite ug, etc) definitely write an addendum and explain the situation.

I'm in a similar spot.
Definitely NU; probably GULC; maybe UVA and Mich; perhaps Penn or Cornell. Not HYSCCN, Boalt or Duke.
Also, outside T14, definitely WUSTL and UIUC; maybe Notre Dame and UWash; perhaps Minn. Not UCLA, USC or Vandy.
Edit - as above, NU only with work experience. And also as above GW belongs somewhere in the list.

I'm pretty sure NU doesn't even look at your GPA if you've got a 173+ and WE...

NU's out then. With your numbers, reaches would be something like UMich and Duke, targets would be something like Cornell, GULC, and UT, and your safeties would be something like WUSTL, UMTC, UIUC, and W&L.prospectiveprospect wrote:My gpa will not quite hit 3.0 and have been testing the lsat from 170-175. not very good we. which schools will like my lsat the most?

They seemed much less splitter-friendly all around this cycle.Hook 'Em wrote:+1, but my GPA is very lowrayiner wrote:UMN outright dinged me this cycle...Peter0061 wrote:Don't leave out UMN... although I think for Low GPA splitters they do like WE.

Based on their splitter love, I've fallen in love with NU, even though I was never thinking Chicago when I started this process.
As a likely splitter/weak splitter (unless I bomb the LSAT, in which case I'm a "not applying" non-splitter), I've pretty much resigned that I'm headed for the midwest since the most split-friendly schools seem to be there (except for W&L). However, are there any southern schools that like splitters? Or are they all low enough ranked that as long as you have a 167-168+ you're okay? (I mean like UF/FSU/UGA, etc; not Emory/Vandy). Their LSAC profiles seem to hate splitters, but from browsing LSN and the splitter threads they don't seem quite as hated on.

Really? The law school application process for splitters makes no sense to me at all... So random. I guess my suggestion would be to apply to every school in the T25 then!

SMU and U of Houston seem very splitter friendly. Seems like a 167 should get you in at either school.keg411 wrote:<33333rayiner wrote:I'm pretty sure NU doesn't even look at your GPA if you've got a 173+ and WE...

GMU, if NoVA counts as Southern.keg411 wrote:<33333rayiner wrote:I'm pretty sure NU doesn't even look at your GPA if you've got a 173+ and WE...

Re: What top law school love high lsat/low gpa splitters?
I think you have about a 50% chance of getting in the T14 if you can pull off an LSAT score of 173. I would send a lot of apps out. It's tough to predict where an extreme splitter might be able to get in.prospectiveprospect wrote:so if i understand everyone i have a decent chance at going to a t14 school? so i should probably blanket my applications across 6-14, and some other top 25 schools im interested in like uiuc

Do you think Duke is possible with that low of a gpa?! It's basically my dream school, but I had understood that they weren't really splitter friendly ...Helmholtz wrote:

Duke rejected me last year with a 3.45/171. I'd say it's an uphill battle.

Frankly, anything below a 3.4 for Duke would be tough. I'm not even sure a 180/3.0 would get in. Schools like GULC, NU, and Cornell are much more forgiving of a low GPA.missvik218 wrote:Do you think Duke is possible with that low of a gpa?! Get 170+. Do Early Decision at MVP, NU, or GULC.
Get 175+. Do Early Decision at one of CCN.
