WUSTL $$$ vs. NU (?)

Post by green76 » Thu Mar 26, 2015 4:46 pm

I am considering Washington University St. Louis and Northwestern University.

I got a large scholarship to WashU ($38k/year) but Northwestern hasn't distributed scholarship money yet. WashU's deadline is April 1st so I'm looking for some advice -- should I deposit on WashU while waiting for NU? I want to go into big law in the Midwest so finances aside, Northwestern is probably the better choice.

I would ask for an extension. Are your stats good enough to get some money at NU?

This really depends on what your career aspirations are. And on exactly how much debt you'll have at the time of repayment (we have calculators for this).

At least last year, only 1 out 3 applicants on LSN with similar scholarships to WUSTL who applied to Northwestern received money, and (s)he only got $10,000/year

Median at WUSTL does not land BL or clerk. Assuming you will be median - you would have to be happy with that outcome to seriously entertain WashU.
