Re: USC (probably sticker) vs Pepperdine $$$
Retake. You won't get an in-house position at a company like HBO without working at big firm first (browse the LinkedIn profiles of HBO lawyers if you don't believe me), and it's very unlikely you'll get a BigLaw position coming from Pepperdine. It's also unlikely you'll get such a position coming from USC, and USC has the added drawback of costing a shit load of money---so much that it'll be pretty much impossible to service that debt if you don't get BigLaw, and it'll still be pretty miserable paying back the debt if you do.

You have to go to USC at worst to have any future in entertainment law. Pepperdine is free because it is worthless.

Why the hell are you searching for "Pepperdine" and necroing all the old threads? You're not reflecting your username very well.notutterlystupid wrote:Ari Emmanuel didn't attend law school before becoming arguably the greatest talent agent in Hollywood.MarkfromWI wrote:UMich JD/MBApancakes3 wrote:I wonder if people who are gunning for Ari Gold's job know what school he went to.

Lol can someone define "old threads" so I can know why you're complaining? Also, I commented on the post out of interest in talent agency/entertainment law and didn't even mention Pepperdine or any other school in the post. Is there a which hunt out for me? Did someone issue a fatwa on me?lymenheimer wrote:Why the hell are you searching for "Pepperdine" and necroing all the old threads? It somewhat varies, but a choosing a law school thread from three years ago is too old to warrant a response. Plus what you added three years after the fact was pointless and utterly stupid for a bunch of people either not around or no longer caring about the substance of that thread. I'd argue if you're not the OP necroing anything older than like two weeks is pointless, but it's also pointless when you aren't adding questions or anything of value to the thread.notutterlystupid wrote:Lol can someone define "old threads" so I can know why you're complaining? You're off to a great start on TLS. You've necroed multiple Pepperdine threads for seemingly no apparent reason. You're going to get flak for that.

There's also another school mentioned in the post title, along with numerous other schools mentioned in replies as alternatives to the schools between which OP was deciding. Searching for "entertainment law", "USC", "$$$", and a host of other keywords would have led me to this post. Having an interest in entertainment law or becoming a talent agent, or commenting on posts that involve that type of conversation is somehow wrong here?cavalier1138 wrote:Read the dates on posts, you twit.notutterlystupid wrote:Lol can someone define "old threads" so I can know why you're complaining? Bottom line, cut the Gestapo crap, and even though you've broken the ad-hominem barrier, I'm going to elect not to call you a wanna-be Nazi, fascist prick directly and instead vainly mask that insult within this reply.
PS Dates on posts don't resolve the ambiguity in not knowing how long after a thread is created a reply would be defined as "necroing". Instead of calling me out, you could have DM'd me with a realistic idea about how long after someone posts is it non-kosher to reply. Furthermore, there are threads on TLS Forums where people have replied a year or more after the original post. I'm not going to post examples, because you're probably just going to go after those people with your Gestapo witch hunt.

What exactly gives you the right to assess whether what I added to this post was pointless and utterly stupid? Just because you can't derive the wisdom from the root does not mean the root does not hold wisdom. You are not the be all or end all of individuals who are able to extract wisdom from knowledge or experience, and acting as if you do because you have many posts to your username seems rather pompous.

notutterlystupid, you were warned not to do this already. Don't post responses to posts asking for advice long enough ago that the OP has obviously had to make a decision already. If you have a specific reason to reopen the thread, like you have the same question and would like additional info, and you acknowledge that you're bumping an old thread, that's one thing. Don't just randomly comment on long-dead conversations.
