Overheard at ASW

Post by chuckbass » Tue Mar 11, 2014 12:45 am

"So, does X Law School have an on campus interviewing program?"

"Someone earlier said something about taking practice exams, where do you buy them?"

From a parent to the 1L guide: "So what life lessons have you learned in the past year?"

Also from a parent: "So what does the school do to help kids figure out what they want to do and how to get it?" *generic response about career services* "yeah but it's hard to figure out what you want, so do they tell you how to do that?"

It's bad enough that these kids bring their parents. But then they let them ask questions for them? I just. don't. understand.

Honestly I'd say there was a 60/40 split in favor of parents asking questions at ASW, the majority of questions coming from parents obviously being irrelevant.

I am 100000% positive that my mom would ask idiotic questions at ASW, which is why I did not invite her to come.

I understand parents wanting to come, especially in the case of KJDs and/or parents that are fronting the bill. However I don't think highly of it, because I know at least for me and being KJD, this is the start of my adult life and I should be taking these steps on my own.

I mean I don't think my mom is super interested in coming, thank god, but she would if I asked her to. But, yeah I mean I'm two years out of college gotta get it together and be a real pseudo adult at some point.
