UVA & Having a Car

Post by jstep » Wed Oct 30, 2013 5:03 am

Hi guys, how necessary is it to have a car while attending UVA?

I know for the metro cities its a no-brainer that you don't need one but for other schools like UVA, Duke, Michigan, I'd assume a car is pretty crucial for personal transportation.

Just curious, thanks

Kind of depends what you want your personal preferences are. There are quite a few apartment complexes within 3-4 blocks of the law school and there are two grocery stores within a half of a mile plus several restaurants. There is a bus that will get you to/from the undergrad area to the school that runs like every 15-20 minutes.

So it's easily doable without a car, but if you have hobbies that draw you outside of the campus area, maybe you should consider one.

I can only speak for Duke. Yes, you need a car.
