NLJ 250 Placement for C/O 2012

Postby Tiago Splitter » Fri Feb 22, 2013 11:52 pm

It's out.

http://www.law.com/jsp/nlj/PubArticleNL ... ctive=true

This year the NLJ published a detailed breakdown of the data complete with pie charts for each school, including those not in the top 50:

http://www.law.com/jsp/nlj/PubArticleNL ... 0127225923

LST with their take:

http://www.lawschooltransparency.com/20 ... tatistics/

" We (NLJ) received data from 190 firms. For firms that did not submit new associate numbers, we relied on data from ALM Media LLC’s RivalEdge database and independent reporting...The rankings do not reflect law graduates who took jobs as clerks following graduation. Our data do not include new associates at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison or King & Spalding."

UCI's first class got 23%? Not sure if I should be impressed, or very worried for upcoming classes :/

Cherminsky had to blow 13 hiring partners. Won't be so high in years to come.

Yeah given the fact that there were only 56 kids in that inaugural class, that 23% probably represents the high water mark.

If you can't out place University of Tennessee, you shouldn't be considered a law school.

and don't forget that UCI had a large number of clerkships (33% of the class). Last years' (small) class did fabulously.

I'm not seeing any surprises at least in the T20.

"They told us to bid Chicago" was the c/o 2011 refrain. Any guesses for c/o 2012?

Penn takes the crown again. Take that, CCN.

Eh, I feel like the difference between UM and UVA is negligible, and I never hear anyone talking about UVA's decline. Just seems like the position those schools are in now. Penn has clearly separated from that pack, however.

Are A3 clerkship stats out yet for this class?

Bid Oregon. Haha, I crack myself up :D. Everyone has a down year here or there though. Give them some time to get back on their feet.

Also, I agree the difference between michigan and UVA is fairly negligible. If I didn't hate my time in the state of PA for undergrad, I may have really considered applying to Penn. It was actually the school I was going to apply to for UG before some huge catastrophe ruined those plans.

HYS, CCP, N/N/V/B/C/D/M, G

But this is nothing new if you have been looking at NLJ and Art. 3 placement over the last few years (since 2005).

EDIT: I do worry that it will eventually be M/G will be together at the end of the T14. I am actually serious.

Even though you have trolled "CCP" for some time now, I've always agreed with this. If that makes me a troll too, so be it.

So according to leaked data 69% had 2L SAs at NJL250 firms for uchi. So is the difference basically clerkships and people doing other things or are a bunch of people getting no offered? Just trying to understand the new stats.
