Try to use UVA to negotiate more at NYU, then use the updated figures from NYU to negotiate more from UVA. May work, may not. Still, 50k isn't monopoly money, and with IP UVA seems like the safer bet.

I agree with this. An extra $40,000-50,000 or so is worth it because either way the essential calculus is the same—you really need biglaw to pay off $120,000 or $170,000 comfortably. And NYU gives you a better shot, in my opinion. As a bonus, the downside risk is somewhat mitigated too by NYU having good LRAP and public interest support, though I really don't encourage anyone to go to law school planning on doing public interest or government work as a fallback, some manage to do it. Maybe your background makes you attractive for FDA-type jobs, I really don't know.iMisto wrote:NYU. The debt load is going to be high at all of them, requiring you to catch BigLaw.
