Temple v. Nova; Major Consideration; Must Decided TODAY
Ok, here it is:
Temple part time, with a $32k scholly over 4 years, get to keep my biglaw job ($50k+)
or
Nova, full-ride.
What would you do?
I have about $85k undergrad debt.

Temple no question. You have a job and will likely come out with less debt b/c you get to keep that job while you are in school. Staying at that job for 3-4 more years may also open some doors.

If by Nova you mean Nova Southeastern, then Temple for sure.deadpanic wrote:Temple no question. You have a job and will likely come out with less debt b/c you get to keep that job while you are in school. Staying at that job for 3-4 more years may also open some doors.

How demanding is your biglaw paralegal position ?
Are you comfortable attending law school part-time while working at a demanding full-time position ?
What are your post law school goals ? If biglaw, then it may be better to focus all of your time & energy on the study of law.
Will Temple permit you to enroll full-time with the same or increased scholarship ?

If targeting biglaw, then full-time employment is foolish even though attending Temple part-time.
P.S. If I understand your original post in this thread, then Temple is only offering you $8,000 a year for each of four years & you are not a resident of Pennsylvania. Have you calculated the total cost of attendance for each law school ?
Also, is it correct that you will be transferring to a new office (Philly office) from your current central New Jersey work location ? If so, Villanova's full tuition scholarship looks attractive if there are no--or very reasonable--stipulations.

If you must decide today, then determine whether your job or attending law school is more important to you because one or both may suffer.

Its Villanova
and I'm in state PA.
I want biglaw when I'm done.
And yes, I've calculated it.. Temple PT is cheaper, but what is safer, RE biglaw?

Big law placement differs by several tenths of a percent between Temple and Villanova, so it's really a wash. Definitely pick Temple.WilliamMary123 wrote:Its Villanova

I don't see why being a part-time student would hurt. Either way, you're not likely to get biglaw from either. At least at Temple, your expenses will be minimal and you'll still be generating an income.WilliamMary123 wrote:But Temple PT > Nova FT?

There's your answer. The cheaper option always wins in this choice.HeavenWood wrote:Big law placement differs by several tenths of a percent between Temple and Villanova, so it's really a wash. Definitely pick Temple.WilliamMary123 wrote:Its Villanova
