SCU vs USF

Postby delusionvision » Thu Apr 07, 2011 8:39 am

So I've been admitted to Santa Clara and USF. I need some help deciding between the two.

Rankings aside, I'm leaning towards Santa Clara. The thing that's holding me back though is that the employment after 9 months rate and bar passage rate are lower compared to USF. It's a little discouraging, but at the same time I can't find any information as to where USF grads go after they graduate (size of firm, sector, etc).

So.... Can I ask for some insight from anyone who's been to/attending/graduated from these schools? Anything about post grad employment, quality of courses, opinions, city life, rent, anything to help.

And before someone says I should go check them out myself, I'm currently posted in Korea and have been so since July 2010 and will be so until the end of July 2011. So visiting is kind of difficult :/

Thanks in advance!

My sense is that SCU is better regarded, especially for IP. My sense is that you need to be top-5% at either school for a legitimate shot at a good firm job though, so there's a cogent argument to be made for picking USF because SF is a lot of fun to live in, whereas the South Bay is pretty boring.

Here's some employment data that has a sector breakdown for SCU/USF

Unfortunately, USF/SCU are currently the topics of discussion in the thread

Generally, USF is the better option if you plan to work in SF and SCU is the better choice if you want to work in the South bay.
