Cornell v GW

Post by D10S » Thu Mar 31, 2011 9:54 pm

Where should I go? I've narrowed it down to these two, at least so far. I had Cornell in my top 3 but the debt load after graduation is making me think twice.

For employment, I'd like to clerk after law school but biglaw is also attractive. Nor particular about where I live afterwards; both NYC and DC are cities I like. Also, keep in mind I dont have ties to any US region.

Should I just throw caution to the wind and go to Cornell? Or play it safe(er) and pick GW?

P.S.
I tried leveraging the GW scholarship for more money from Cornell, to no avail. I also have WL offers from Gtown, Duke, Vandy and UCLA, and I'm keeping those options open.

I personally don't think this is even really close if you truly want biglaw and have no preference as to NYC or DC as cornell just feeds kids into law firm jobs in NYC. Ithaca may not be the MOST exciting place ever to live for 3 years but the job prospects coming out of there are much much better than GW and the difference in debt between the 2 schools is IMO not enough. Enjoy Cornell and congrats!
