Wake, American, UMD, Villanova (60k), Cardozo (84K)
These are the schools I have been accepted to, and at this point I have no clue which one I'll be attending -- Wake Forest, American, U Maryland, Villanova (60K), Cardozo (84K) (Still waiting to hear back from a few other schools though)
Please consider the following:
1. I would like to practice in Northern VA/DC after graduation, but would consider NY if a good opportunity came up
2. I'm interested in international law, immigration law and personal injury
Tuition, COL:
Wake: 35K, 10K = 45k/yr
American: 44K, 0 (WOULD LIVE AT HOME) = 44k/yr
U Maryland: 35K, 19K = 54k/yr
Villanova: 37K, 16K = 53K - 20K (schol) = 33k/yr
Cardozo: 45K, 20-25K = 65K-70K - 28K (schol) = 37k-42k/yr
I am in the process of negotiating more scholarship $ with these schools , and I am also hoping to get some need-based $.
Thank you all for your feedback.

You want to live at home during LS? Not a good move.

Villianova is the best financial option - but American would be the best option if that is where you want to be. However, American is not worth $130,000+ (after tuition increases over the time you are in school) of debt. Can you use your Villianova or Cardozo scholarships to get something from American? If you could get at least a $20,000 a scholarship, you would be in a better position considering that you would not have COL debt.WilRO wrote:These are the schools I have been accepted to, and at this point I have no clue which one I'll be attending -- Wake Forest, American, U Maryland, Villanova (60K), Cardozo (84K) (Still waiting to hear back from a few other schools though)

I have almost the same offers and I am going with Wake. After talking to hiring attorneys in Washington, they all said they would take Wake over Maryland and Villanova and many also said they would choose Wake over American. TLS doesn't do Wake's name justice, it has a lot more reach than most people believe (probably due to the strength of its undergraduate program).

I don't really want to live at home during LS, but if it means saving about 20k/yr, I would probably do it. :/SrLaw wrote:WilRO wrote:These are the schools I have been accepted to, and at this point I have no clue which one I'll be attending -- Wake Forest, American, U Maryland, Villanova (60K), Cardozo (84K) (Still waiting to hear back from a few other schools though)

Thanks for the financial suggestion with regards to American. Will try to use my scholarships as leverage; hope it works.

I totally agree with this statement. I'm going to visit Wake next week so I can get a sense of what life's like for LS students there.YankeesFan wrote:I have almost the same offers and I am going with Wake. I visited in February and from what I gather life can be great down there. I grew up in NYC and live in DC now and it would be nothing like that, but in terms of QOL I dont think it can be beat. There are golf courses, running trails, fishing, enough bars and distractions which would make law school a little more bearable.
