New Rankings
When the news rankings are released next week, should that be the basis of selecting a law school, all other things being equal? I'd imagine last year's rankings would become obsolete, no?

No, USWR rankings are quite far down on the list on things that will influence my decision. T14 is always the same schools, they just swap positions a little, and after that its mostly a regional game weighted against scholarship opportunities.

Re: New Rankings
You want to find a school that jumped from a low number to a high number, and hitch yourself to a new rising star. 95th to 78th will be Tier 1 by the time you graduate, T30 by the time you pass the bar, and should be poised to kick GULC out of the T14 by the time you're done with Biglaw.

Re: New Rankings
Bad choice of name for this thread. I thought new rankings came out early this year.

It would have to remain that way for 10 years, and even then...ND>IU...Emory>UGA.bk187 wrote:This would be beyond meaningless.justadude55 wrote:LOL I meant like if IU: B overtook ND or UGA overtook Emory kind of thing.

US News rankings are the most important factor in choosing many things: high schools, hospitals, lawyers, colleges, grad schools, cancer doctors.
I live and die by their rankings.

Re: New Rankings
I disagree I think UCLA/Vandy/UT should be out in a cathg. that is not only regional. They are not as highly presit. but they have stayed in the same spots for some time. (yes I am hating on USC)Justathought wrote:No, USWR rankings are quite far down on the list on things that will influence my decision. When are they going to rank eligible bachelors/bachelorettes? Else how will I know whom to marry?kk19131 wrote:US News rankings are the most important factor in choosing many things: high schools, hospitals, lawyers, colleges, grad schools, cancer doctors.
