If you want to work anywhere besides PA then it is UVA, by a mile.

Even if you want to work in PA, UVA wins. UVA is very well represented in Pittsburgh biglaw.

Virginia is the best investment among your choices. If finances are, or soon become, a major concern, then limit your consideration to a choice between Virginia & Pitt. Virginia, however, is a major player in all types of legal placement in many areas of the country.

I got more money out of Pitt and I guarantee you I had no shot at UVA. If I had gotten into UVA, I definitely would have taken it.battle_tested wrote:I guess this solidifies what I was already thinking. I just wanted some verification that going into debt was worth it, especially with some pretty good scholarship offers on the table.

OP, I'm taking UVA at sticker over UMN with a full tuition scholarship plus living stipend. PM me if you have more questions.

OP, UVA is absolutely worth it, especially considering your goals:
"Preferably, I'd like to work in a secondary market (either in the east, mid atlantic or south) at a biglaw firm".
UVA places FAR better in any kind of big law than any of the other schools listed. Temple MAY get you big law in Philly if you're like top 10%, Pitt MAY get you big law in Pittsburgh at around the same percentage. They almost certainly will not get you big law in any other market without significant grades, connections and luck. You have a lot more markets open to you and a lot more leeway coming from UVA.
"If not that, then I'd like to work as an ADA or in some type of government position. "
ADAs and government jobs are very competitive. UVA will open up the potential of DC positions, and, again, get you in the door for more competitive jobs in the public sector than any of the other schools.
"I also have fairly decent connections to firms/lawyers in W.PA and NE Ohio. I have 35k saved up that I plan on putting towards school and no UG debt." "
If you have these connections already, you can still bring a UVA degree back to W. PA and NE Ohio if you decide that's what you want.
UVA all the way
Congrats on getting in!
caveat - if you had a full ride at one of the others and absolutely 100% KNEW you would ONLY want to stay in the geographic area of the school, it might be a different story, but I'd still probably say UVA.

The gap between UVA and those other schools is to great to pass up. Congrats on UVA! Take it and run.
