Wait for financial aid. But I'd go with either BU or BC - both give you good access to NY and Boston, Fordham is just NYC - more options.

Def. wait for aid. Paying sticker isn't the best idea. But this is really good advice.Blindmelon wrote:Wait for financial aid. But I'd go with either BU or BC - both give you good access to NY and Boston, Fordham is just NYC - more options.

Also, considering that BU/BC is about $10,000 cheaper, annually, it's the best way to go.

In addition to this, Fordham is stingy with money.Gemini wrote:Also, considering that BU/BC is about $10,000 cheaper, annually, it's the best way to go.

As a Bostonian, I will tell you not to go to BU unless you have NO idea where you want to work after graduation. It places decently in NY, decently in Boston (not as good as BC), which makes it kind of the worst of both worlds. If you want NY, go to Fordham; if you want Boston, go to BC. Don't pick the one in the middle.

Re: Fordham vs BU vs BC
As a Bostonian who attends BU, I will tell you this is absolute rubbish. The top three firms in Boston: Ropes and Gray, WilmerHale, and Goodwin Proctor total have pretty much the same number of people from BC and BU - with GP more BU heavy, R&G more BC heavy, and WH basically tied.fetalposition wrote:As a Bostonian, I will tell you not to go to BU unless you have NO idea where you want to work after graduation. BC = BU in Boston. I have no idea how BC does for NYC, but I assume its similar.

BC. Sticker would be rough, so hopefully you get some money. Fordham is not worth it, the COA is ridiculous.

BU because I hear the prof's teaching skills are second to none.
Equal placement and prestige, so that is the tiebreak. Also for me, I'm interested in their Health Law concentration.
If you are set on NYC though, Fordham's network in this city is damned ridiculous. It gets your foot in the door in a LOT of places.

These are all peer schools. Some will say BC has the most prestige, others will say Fordham has the best placement in New York, and others will say BU has risen up in the rankings in the last few years and is now pretty competitive with the other two schools. Each school has its merits and drawbacks, but in the end, you should really visit each school and see which school's campus and atmosphere you like the most. Competitive/collegial, high COL/Medium COL, urban/suburban, public transit/own a car, school spirit (alumni as well)/lack thereof, etc.

The admissions staff was rude and unpleasant, and the students were all depressed. I know you might think "why do I care about admissions," but I've worked in higher education and generally all administration is at the same level at a school. I genuinely believe that if the admissions staff could be as rude as they were, that the CDO, Registrar, and other services are probably equally unfriendly. All the students shuffled along staring at their feet and not talking to one another.ballpop wrote:Yea, Lincoln Center is such an awful area.Cupidity wrote:I visited Fordham, it was unpleasent.

Nygrrrl and OS will disagree with you on this.Cupidity wrote:The admissions staff was rude and unpleasant, and the students were all depressed. No one has told her to visit? These are all peer schools so it will probably come down to personal preference.
If you're wondering about placement, I've never encountered a Fordham grad outside of the tristate area.
Illustrative examples:
http://www.goodwinprocter.com/People/Li ... pn=1&ps=30
http://www.wilmerhale.com/biographies/b ... 8b410834fd
http://www.skadden.com/Index.cfm?contentID=3 (search for fordham law...I can't export a proper link)
So if you want to be in NY look into Fordham more, if not BC/BU.
