I want to work in the Southeast, especially in FL. I also have clerkship ambitions.
Does Chicago have enough national reputation / better overall job prospects to overcome UVA's ties and regional reputation here?
Assume cost is inconsequential (scholly offers not in yet).

FL is an awfully long way from Virginia and Chicago places better in clerkships. I wouldn't look at the "regional" placement stats and equate SE with Florida. Do you want to work at a big law firm in Miami?

If cost is inconsequential, and assuming you have FL ties, just go to Chicago.

Actually I would be more interested in a big firm (to the extent they exist, mostly satellite offices of national firms) in Jax or Tampa. Although I'd certainly be interested in firms in Atlanta, Charlotte, and other Southeast markets.bdubs wrote:FL is an awfully long way from Virginia and Chicago places better in clerkships. What I know I don't want is NYC or Chicago or any other cold place that ask for even more billable hours than do southeast firms.

wait for scholly info. if you're in at both you probably got some $$ from UVA. The $$ at UVA might make it worth it.
