Florida State vs. Florida
Both rank in the low 50-ish range. How different are they?

Florida is The Gator Nation. UF dominates law in Florida. Both schools are on par for their academics. But I think that FSU is gaining influence. UF will probably always be more prestigious.

There's already a ton of threads for this, including at least one with a poll. Search bar is on the top left.

FSU probably has the better facualty and eventually will "outrank" UF, though rankings at this level don't matter. UF probably is still better if your goal is to find a job after law school because of their massive alumni network in Florida as we as their "lay prestige." A good number of gators and gator alumni actually think of their school as the long lost ivy league institution in Florida. Unfortunately, while completely untrue, that notion perpetuates throughout the state and if you're an FSU grad, most people will think it's becuase you couldn't get in to UF.

Re: Florida State vs. Florida
I think FSU > UF, because of the difference in location. Neither school is prestigious enough to overcome not having a regional feeder market (like UVA or Cornell). At the level of schools that UF and FSU are, it is imperative to take advantage of networking and during school work experience, which UF doesn't offer. If UF were located in Tallahassee and FSU were in Gainesville, my opinion would be reversed.
The lay prestige factor is definitely annoying, because it is in no way a consequence of the law programs at each school.
