follow the money? cardozo vs illinois
just got into illinois w/15k per year guaranteed, but i want to live in NY. am i stupid to pay sticker at cardozo when i have illinois (ranked 23) offering me money, even though it's in the middle of nowhere?

The real answer is: it depends on a lot.
On one hand, a higher ranked school *may* give you more job opportunities, and the break on tuition will help, not to mention lower cost of living.
Cardozo isn't a bad school, but cost of living and tuition will rack up some debt.
One thing to try is negotiate with Cardozo, explain that you have guaranteed (no GPA stipulations?) money from UIUC and you truly want to go to Cardozo but the fiscal side is something you need help with.
Otherwise, if you know UIUC won't make you happy, why spend the money and years of life? I'm all for minimizing debt and maximizing opportunity, but a commonly missed point here is happiness.
