I think there is a lot to look forward to/predict; such as 1) will Illinois drop due to their scandal 2) will GW have corrected their PT numbers and thus propel themselves back into the T20-T25 3) and the GULC thing.

Can someone explain to me why GULC is considered the weakest of the T14. I know its at no. 14 but I thought that was a result of them having a large part time program that in effect hurts thier ranking but has little to no effect on the important things (i.e. Job prospects). On top of this, it seems harder to gain acceptance to Gtown than Cornell, which should be a factor. Plus, I am hearing lots of bad things about Cornell job placement this year. Personally, I get the sense Cornell should drop out before Gtown. I have no basis other then what I have said here, so feel free to tell me why I am wrong.vanwinkle wrote:I predict GULC will be in it.

Illnois: Major scandal involving the school agreeing to make political acceptances of unqualified students in exchange for promises of jobs for graduates in the governor's office. Could potentially impact the school's peer and judge rankings, which I guess could affect their USNWR ranking. However, I would not expect major movement.DGLitcH wrote:I haven't been following but what happened to Illinois and GULC to warrant the changes?pennstatepride wrote:I think there is a lot to look forward to/predict; such as 1) will Illinois drop due to their scandal 2) will GW have corrected their PT numbers and thus propel themselves back into the T20-T25 3) and the GULC thing.
GULC: Considered every year to be the most likely to drop out of the T14, should a school just below it manage to improve even slightly. Discussion then turns to which school would dethrone it, with UCLA, Texas, Vandy, and USC all considered candidates for this upset. Nothing new here, this is perennial speculation.

Re: Top15-30 2011 US News Predicitons
PT rankings have never been taken into effect until the most recent rankings. This was often considered to give GULC a silent boost since in prior years they could have a large PT program without it hurting them. It doesn't appear that adding in PT programs to the rankings changed anything though.Flanker1067 wrote:Can someone explain to me why GULC is considered the weakest of the T14. Also, it's largely because GULC is #14.

It will be interesting to see whether or not UC Irving cracks into the top 30....what does everyone think?

They will not be ranked until they receive ABA accreditation. This is also why Drexel is not ranked yet.Shot007 wrote:It will be interesting to see whether or not UC Irving cracks into the top 30....what does everyone think?

I know that there is absolutely no way to know for sure, but does anyone have an opinion on Washington & Lee? It has historically been in the T25, but it fell to 30 last year. Does anyone think this indicates a major fall in the future, or should it be able to bounce back? I've just started to seriously consider it because of a way better than expected scholarship, but the drop makes me a little nervous.

up = good, down = bad
UVA goes up (number whoring finally pays off)
Duke goes down
Vanderbilt goes up
Texas goes down
Indiana goes down
Notre Dame goes up
University of Iowa goes down
GW goes up
Ridiculous 5 way tie at #30 is broken with Fordham/Alabama/UW ahead of UNC/W&L.
Rutgers Camden down. Rutgers Newark up.

The huge scholarship is probably to help boost/maintain their LSAT median to prevent any further drop. 25 to 30 is not a huge drop, and they could easily move back up at least some.forty-two wrote:I know that there is absolutely no way to know for sure, but does anyone have an opinion on Washington & Lee? However, the really important thing is that in that range, from #25 to #30 is not a huge drop. Either way it's still a regional school, and a pretty good one at that, but not a school that's going to have any kind of huge national relevance. It's outside the T14 but strong in its region, and will continue to be that way at either #25 or #30.

By waiving the application fee they will have a boost in apps and thus a great Selectivity rating.

Re: Top15-30 2011 US News Predicitons
Cornell is such an odd entry at #13. Obviously it's a good school, but it seems to have kind of a love/hate thing going on, at least around here. Their admission standards also seem to be the most lenient of the Top 14, especially when compared to Georgetown. It's hard to say what their destiny is going to be down the line, but their Ivy League status is probably enough to keep them in the low Top 14.
Any thoughts on Berkeley moving down?

Oh no, I think he meant (and I know I meant) out of the tie for 6th; restoring HYSCCN as the only T6. I forgot about the limitations put on the thread in the OP.mistergoft wrote:Down to #15? Really?Rand M. wrote:Steven Perry wrote:Any thoughts on Berkeley moving down?
