Job Description:
The firm is seeking a Law Clerk ready to transition to an Associate Attorney upon passing the bar exam this summer. The Law Clerk will participate in a mentorship program and enroll in the law firm's College program as they build their expertise in practicing family law. The law firm will provide relocation expenses.
Job Responsibilities:
- Represent clients with the support of a mentor in family law cases, including divorce, child custody, spousal support, and property division.
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and agreements.
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in family law.
- Attend court hearings and trials, and present cases effectively.
- Provide legal advice and support to clients throughout the legal process.
- Collaborate with paralegals and other legal staff to ensure efficient case management.
Qualifications:
- Expected Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Has sat for the Maine bar exam and is awaiting results, or will be sitting for the Maine bar exam in the summer of 2025.
- Able to obtain a license to practice law in the state of Maine.
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
- Enthusiastic about practicing family law and domestic litigation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to providing high-quality legal representation to clients.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school is expected.
- Must have sat for or be planning to sit for the Maine bar exam.
