I'm not sure if I've reached far enough or have reached too far...any advice would be appreciated:
Alabama
Florida
FSU
UNC (I've heard being an NC resident helps, but does it help as much as I think it'll need to be to help me?)
Miami
Oregon
South Carolina
Georgia State
Michigan State
Elon
Mississippi
Penn State
NC Central
Thanks for the help.

Retake if you can. If you can get it over 160, lots of doors will open up. And lots of the schools on your list may offer $$$

I would retake the LSAT, but I've never done well on standardized tests so I've probably topped out at where I'm at. I wrote an addendum addressing this (probably to the dismay of some, but it seemed like Ivey was even OK with writing it in this case), because if you took my ACT score I would/should be at or below the 25th percentile of my class, but I've ended up around the 85th.
Any more takers?

Without even reading what you have to say on your post:
RETAKE

Retake, don't let that 3.8 go to waste.

My guess...
Alabama - WL/Out
Florida - WL/In
FSU - In
UNC - I really can't say...pretty unpredictable, but I'd guess you have a good shot with your GPA & in-state residency.
Miami - In
Oregon - ?
South Carolina - In
Georgia State - In
Michigan State - In
Elon - In
Mississippi - In
Penn State - In
NC Central - In

UNC wl/in or maybe just in if you've got a really good why UNC. In state is huge at UNC.
Miami - in
Oregon - in
South Carolina - in
Georgia State - in
Michigan State - in$$
Elon - in$$
Mississippi - in
Penn State - in
NC Central - in$$

Retake, retake retake.
Otherwise, add Indiana Blomington to you app list. You've got enough of a shot (its small) to warrant the app costs.

Now when you say have a good "Why UNC?" essay, do you mean a one separate than the one on the application, or is the one on there sufficient?
And IU sent me a application fee waiver - I guess it'll be worth the time taking advantage of it then?

Definitely use it, can't promise you'll get in, but high GPA low LSAT people have a shot at IU. But I'd really think about a retake.

I might as well say it again: retake. With that GPA, you would be letting yourself down by not retaking.

I appreciate all the help folks - I think 157 is the highest I can go on test day and I'm not sure I can do a whole lot better. I (honestly) don't do well on standardized tests. I made a 950 on the SAT, yet will graduate magna cum laude as an undergrad.
So far that list I posted has changed a little bit, as I took off Florida, Georgia State, Michigan State, and Mississippi. I added Mercer to the list (and got in). However, I got waitlisted at Miami. It's one of my first choices, but not my first choice. Should I still send in a LOCI?

+1 to both of these. I am in-state in North Carolina, but I didn't apply because their application was annoying and it was a safety anyway. You're a decent candidate at admission since you're in-state.
