do i count as a splitter, or just a poor candidate:P

I'm a social science grad from a top UC, worked at law firms for 2 years, asian-american (not URM). These are the schools i'm looking at:

Loyola Marymount
Loyola Chicago
Villanova
Penn St.
Marquette
Florida
Chicago-Kent
Brooklyn
Northeastern
Pepperdine
San Diego
Buffalo
Cardozo
Boston College (reach)
UCLA (extreme reach)

Am I applying to the right group of schools (essentially t2's)? Should I be aiming higher/lower?

I think your LSAT is above the 75th percentile at most of those schools so you'll probably be considered a splitter at, say, Loyola-Chicago, but at UCLA you'll just be considered a poor candidate (I wouldn't waste my money on that one.) I'm sure that if you can explain the poor GPA you'll have a good amount of acceptances from the schools on this list.

If you are interested in those Chicago schools, I'd also send an application to Depaul. I have similar but slightly lower numbers and they gave me 8k/yr in scholarship money. I think you're aiming at the right type of schools though. I think it would behoove you to write a GPA addendum that gives them a good reason to think that your UG grades are not representative of the level of work you will do in law school.

Thanksfor the tip on depaul! I wonder if they'll give me a fee waiver. Good luck my fellow, not-quite-elite, splitter!

I would say that out of those...you have the best shot at
Loyola Chicago
Penn State
Marquette
Florida
Buffalo

I also got some $ from DePaul with slightly lower numbers. I believe they granted everyone a fee waiver. Mine was free at least, and I didn't apply for it. Good luck!

was it a CRS (hidden) fee waiver or did you have to ask for it?
